In the business world, agility is key. The ability to rapidly adapt to changes in the market, technology, and customer demands is what separates successful businesses from unsuccessful ones. So it’s no surprise that more and more businesses are turning to Agile methodology to help them become more agile. But if you’re new to agile, where do you start?
There are many paths to follow when it comes to agility and self-managed learning is an important aspect. Here are some of the best resources I have found on my journey to understanding agility and tips on how to get started
Scrum
A framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value. In the software development world, Scrum is a popular framework for completing projects. It’s simple, yet efficient process has proven successful for many organisations.

Kanban
Kanban is a method for defining, managing, and improving services that deliver knowledge work, such as professional services, creative endeavors, and the design of both physical and software products. With Kanban, work is organized systematically. The system facilitates the collection of data about how various aspects of how a process is working, which then allows people to make informed decisions about how to improve them.
Leadership
Leadership is about making others feel safe.
Agile Leadership is about empowering others to make the decisions best for the product. The best people to make the decision is the one’s who are closest to the problem.
It is not about being the benevolent dictator, but rather a servant leader who helps guide others towards their collective goals.
Facilitation
The art of facilitation is helping others visualise, creating the conditions for effective group conversations, and focus on the objectives of the discussion.
It involves creating a safe and supportive environment, providing tools and resources, and helping people to communicate effectively. A successful facilitation process starts with the facilitator.
Coaching
Coaching is a process of partnering with a person, team, or organization in order to help them achieve a specific goal. It is a creative and flexible process that can be tailored to the needs of the client.
Coaches use their knowledge and expertise to help their clients reach their goals. Coaching is a positive and supportive experience that can help people achieve their full potential.
Mindset
Understand the beliefs that drive you and others. An Agile mindset is about creating and responding to change in uncertain and turbulent environments, we are more likely to be successful if we adapt to the environment and not the other way round.
It is important to understand and accept that there will be times when our best efforts will not produce the desired results.
